Abstract

There are various engineering properties for the mitigation of brittleness of concrete, which is problematic aspect for many technical applications. Hence, the fibre-reinforced concrete belongs to the most popular ways how to increase tensile strength of the concrete. Present paper deals with the evaluation of various types of fibers in terms of mechanical testing. The mechanical properties including determination of residual flexural strength has been studied in this paper. Four types of polypropylene fibers were applied in two different dosages to quantify the gain on the field of mechanical resistance. Although the soft fibers modified properties of fresh concrete, the mechanical properties were significantly influenced by the shaped fibers, which increased the ductility of hardened concrete.
