This article describes the hardening of inorganic materials by controlled carbonation. The method is tested on ordinary Portland cement (OPC), steel slag, and pure gamma belite (γ-C2S). Both the laboratory preparation of gamma belite and the preparation of samples for hardening are described. The samples were assessed for changes in mineralogy, porosity, and strength increase. All these results are assessed comprehensively. Finally, the observed influence of mineralogical composition, porosity, and carbonation parameters is described.
