Abstract

The results of experiments concerning hydration and consequent carbonation of Portland cement based materials, collected from various sources were analysed. The analysis was focused on the changes of density and porosity of hydrated materials due to their carbonation. Various materials, prepared from various mixtures, hydrated under various conditions, exposed to the carbonation in various environments and various carbon dioxide concentrations were analysed. The analysis was conducted with use of the equations expressing the relationships among the Portland cement pastes composition, curing conditions, degrees of hydration and carbonation, density and porosity.
