Analysis of the applicability of thermal imaging measurements for early detection of arteriovenous malformations

The demand for thermal imaging is currently quite high, with applications ranging from complementary X-ray examinations, tomography, mammography, to pipeline examination, and detection of insulation discontinuities. It is also used for measurements when detecting heat losses in buildings. The wider the temperature detection range of thermal imaging equipment, the greater its potential applications in various industries, provided that the results are delivered within the appropriate range. Accurate methods involve non-contact measurements using infrared testing, which allows one to detect any object with a temperature higher than 0 K, ensuring non-invasive testing.
This work focuses on the use of thermography in medicine for the early detection of varicose veins. Activities carried out using thermograms are also presented. Examples of thermograms created for individuals suffering from varicose veins, who have undergone surgical procedures to remove varicose veins, and who have not been formally diagnosed with vascular diseases, are included. The final part of the work summarizes how thermography can identify selected pathologies. It’s worth noting that thermograms displaying abnormalities and lesions are compared with thermograms obtained from healthy patients.
