This article explores the role of the system of social and legal protection of children (SPOD) in addressing socio-economic disparities across regions of the Czech Republic. The central objective is to identify key factors that influence the effectiveness of intervention strategies in areas marked by heightened levels of social and economic inequality. Drawing on mixed-method research, the study focuses on the professional practices of SPOD workers, their collaboration with relevant stakeholders within regional support systems. The findings reveal that regional variation significantly impacts the outcomes of SPOD interventions, with challenges arising from limited access to specialized services, high staff turnover, inconsistent approaches to family support, and inadequate interagency coordination. The article concludes by offering recommendations aimed at strengthening the institutional framework of SPOD and substitute care systems, with an emphasis on mitigating regional disparities and enhancing the overall quality and consistency of child protection services.
