Abstract

Short-term accommodation rentals influence tourism not only in the Czech Republic but also in the European Union. This paper examines the legal framework of EU regulation concerning short-term accommodation rentals and its impacts on tourism in the Czech Republic. Therefore, the paper analyses Regulation (EU) 2024/1028 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 April 2024 on the collection and sharing of data relating to short-term accommodation rental services and amending Regulation (EU) 2018/1724, as well as other European Union regulations pertaining to the regulation of tourism. Emphasis is placed on the transposition of these regulations into the legal order of the Czech Republic. Furthermore, the paper addresses relevant national legislation governing tourism in the Czech Republic. Compliance with tourism-related regulations in the Czech Republic should thus positively impact the provision of such services, particularly through online platforms.
