The town of Čelákovice is located in the Central Bohemian Region in the ring around the capital city of Prague, within the Prague Metropolitan Area. The strongest transport flows of commuting and outgoing residents are between Čelákovice and Prague. These findings are based on census data, housing and apartment data, directional and transport surveys, and geolocation data from mobile operators. These flows will be partly affected by the newly constructed road bypass and, in the future, especially by the development of a high-speed line with the Prague-East Terminal. The most widely discussed issues are parking capacity and public transport provision. Čelákovice can be presented as an ideal “city of short distances”, where greater emphasis should be placed on the priorities of pedestrians and cyclists for movement within the town. The key document for optimizing transport systems and addressing major challenges is the Mobility Concept of the Town of Čelákovice.
