The hardening soil model is one of the most commonly used constitutive models in engineering practice. This model is based on multi-surface plasticity and combines the well-known Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion, a hardening shear surface and a cap yield surface into a single model. The stress-strain behaviour is improved by including nonlinear elasticity. In this paper a calibration tool for a modified version of the hardening soil model is presented which is currently implemented in the online calibration application called ExCalibre.
