About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Acta Polytechnica is a scientific journal published by Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU). The main title, Acta Polytechnica, is accompanied by the subtitle Journal of Advanced Engineering, which defines the scope of the journal more precisely - Acta Polytechnica covers a wide spectrum of engineering topics, physics and mathematics.

Our aim is to be a high-quality multi-disciplinary journal publishing the results of basic and applied research. We place emphasis on the quality of all published papers. The journal should also serve as a bridge between basic research in natural sciences and applied research in all technical disciplines.

We support the innovative research results published by young scientists or by postdoctoral fellows and also the high-quality papers by researchers from the international scientific community.

Submissions

We welcome high-quality scientific work that has not previously been published and that contains outputs that are beneficial and original. For detailed information about the submission process see Submissions section.

To detect plagiarism and check submitted contributions, the editors use SimilarityCheck tool.

Peer Review Process

All papers are assessed by the editorial board, and accepted papers are then reviewed by at least two independent reviewers in single blind review process.

The review process is usually completed within four months.

Open Access Policy

Acta Polytechnica is an Open Access journal which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles in this journal without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. This is in accordance with the BOAI definition of open access.

Article submission charge or Article processing charge (APC, publication fee) is not required from authors - publishing in Acta Polytechnica is free of charge.

Bimonthly, 6 isssues per year.

Journal History

Acta Polytechnica is a peer-reviewed Open Access scientific journal published by the Czech Technical University in Prague. This journal first appeared in 1961 under the name “Proceedings of the Czech Technical University”. The main purpose of the journal was to support publication of the results of scientific and research activities at the Czech technical universities. Five years later, in 1966, the name of the journal was changed to Acta Polytechnica, and it started appearing quarterly.

For several years Acta Polytechnica was listed by the Research, Development and Innovation Council of the Czech Government. Since the beginning of 2012, Acta Polytechnica has been indexed by the Scopus database, retroactively from volume 51 (2011). Acta Polytechnica has been indexed also in Web of Science ESCI edition from volume 56 (2016). The journal has Impact Factor since 2023.
