Abstract

The beam-column connections with top-ring-plate and bottom-through-diaphragm in the assembled special-shaped multi-box column steel braced frame residential structures (ASMCBFRS) exhibit semi-rigidity when the linear stiffness of beam is bigger than that of column, so that the seismic force and stiffness of ASMCBFRS based on the specification would be larger compare actual situation. Therefore, the strength reduction factor R based on the current specification is not reasonable for the ASMCBFRS. This paper used different height structures to establish the seismic response analysis model of the ASMCBFRS considering the moment-rotation relationship of the top-ring-plate and bottom-through-diaphragm beam-column connections, and studied the strength reduction factor R and displacement amplification factor of the ASMCBFRS system by using the static elastoplastic analysis method and the capacity spectrum method. The results show that the deformation of the ASMCBFRS under the medium and strong earthquake meets the seismic code requirements, and its seismic design according to the current code is conservative, and its strength reduction factor R can be taken as 3.6.
