Focus and Scope
The Civil Engineering Journal is an online scientific journal published by the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Czech Technical University in Prague, Czech Republic. The journal incorporates various fields of civil engineering and presents the latest progress in research and development in civil engineering. The Civil Engineering Journal publishes original articles dealing with selected topics created by teams or individuals on national or international level. It provides information about major events occurring at universities (civil engineering faculties), professional experiences, on engineering exhibitions and trade fairs held worldwide with orientation to European countries and the Czech Republic.
The aim of the journal is to be a high-quality multi-disciplinary journal publishing the results of basic and applied research and to provide information about technical improvement originated by diverse universities and research institutions.
The Civil Engineering Journal continues in tradition of the oldest engineering journal in the Czech Republic named Technický obzor (the Technical Bulletin, ISSN: 1804-8692). The Technical Bulletin had been published between years 1893 and 1950. This periodic had been prohibited after the communist revolution and its founder institution Spolek inženýrů a architektů (Association of Engineers and Architects) had been marked as a undesirable professional organization in 1950. After the fall of the totalitarianism in the Czech Republic a new, adherent journal named Stavební obzor (ISSN: 1210-4027) was founded in 1992. This journal published 10 issues per year with 32 pages in an issue and became the top Czech periodical in the civil engineering field. Since 2006 the journal`s article names and abstracts are in English language. In 2015 the journal has undergone a big reorganization - printed publication has been abandoned and the journal has become online only (https://ojs.cvut.cz - CEJ). The publishing language has changed to English and the journal`s name changed accordingly.
Four issues per year (March, July, October, December)
The journal has double blind peer-review process that is carried out by the redaction team. Reviewers are international experts in the selected field and they are carefully chosen by editors based on the manuscript’s theme. In order to observe reviewers independence and objectivity reviewers never now authors name and affiliation. An average reviewing process takes about 6 months – Within 6 months authors will receive first feedback from the redaction team, the final publication then depends on reviewers comments.
